A traffic accident has blocked southbound traffic on Interstate 25 at Speer Boulevard.
Traffic is being diverted at 23rd Avenue.
A lengthy backup has been developing and is now reported to extend north to the Boulder turnoff.
Colorado Department of Transportation officials said the backup will be “lengthy” without specifying a time for returning to normal flow. All southbound drivers coming from the north should take alternate routes.
Denver police Detective Virginia Quinones said the accident occurred just after 9 a.m. She said she didn’t have any details, other than it involves serious injuries.
