Once they were through with the NFL draft on Sunday, the Broncos picked up what they believed were five of the best rookie prospects who weren’t drafted.
In signing 306-pound Auburn guard Tim Duckworth (), the Broncos continued their recent movement towards adding bulk to their offensive line. Duckworth was a two-year starter at Auburn and was an all-SEC selection as a junior and senior.
Depth at the safety position was added with the signing of Wisconsin’s Roderick Rogers.
The Broncos’ lone small-college signee was Hampton University receiver Marquay McDaniel, who had 14 touchdown receptions last year. The team today also confirmed the previously reported signings of Florida defensive tackle Steven Harris and Texas running back Selvin Young ().
Just because these players weren’t drafted doesn’t mean they should be dismissed as roster longshots. Among Broncos reserves who were undrafted rookies last year were running back Mike Bell, defensive tackle Antwon Burton and receiver/returner Brian Clark.
Previously undrafted Broncos include receiver Rod Smith, left tackle Matt Lepsis, right tackle Erik Pears and fullback Cecil Sapp.
