Grand Junction – An autopsy was scheduled on the body of a woman found inside a car at a Wal-Mart Supercenter in Grand Junction, police said.
A shopper discovered the body, slumped over in the driver’s seat of the green Ford Escort, shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday.
It was not clear how long the car had been there, or how long the woman had been inside. Yellow police tape marked off the northwest corner of the lot while officers and a medical examiner worked the case.
“Until cause and manner have been determined by the coroner’s office, this is classified as an unattended death,” said Linda Bowman, spokeswoman for the Grand Junction Police Department.
A dispatch report that the woman was bleeding was unconfirmed, Bowman said.
The woman’s identity was being withheld until relatives could be notified.
