In his bid to play in the NFL this season, Pacman Jones is using the “everyone does it” defense. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell recently suspended the Tennessee Titans star for the 2007 season because of his multiple run-ins with the law.
Jones’ attorneys have filed an appeal and cite the fact NFL players have been involved in nearly 300 incidents involving the law in the past seven years as evidence why they think Jones is being picked on. In the 24-page document, obtained by The Tennessean newspaper, Jones’ attorneys list 21 pages of incidents, 11 involving the Titans, dating to 2000.
Jones will meet with Goodell on Friday, when his appeal will be heard.
No word if Pacman also will cite the “dog ate my homework” defense if he’s not properly prepared for Goodell’s questions.
