With a 6-3 victory over the Memphis RiverKings on Tuesday at the Budweiser Events Center, the Colorado Eagles won the CHL’s Northern Conference title.
For the second time in the team’s history, the Eagles will play in the President’s Cup finals, against the Laredo Bucks, the same team they beat in the 2005 championship.
Six Eagles scored against the RiverKings, and goalie Marco Emond stopped 22 shots for his seventh victory of the playoffs.

CSU-Pueblo reinstating three sports
Football, wrestling and women’s track and field will return to Colorado State-Pueblo, with the teams to begin competing in the fall of 2008.
The sports were approved for reinstatement by the Board of Governors of the Colorado State University System on Tuesday. The board unanimously endorsed the athletics expansion plan first recommended by CSU-Pueblo president Joseph Garcia. Garcia may now begin to negotiate the necessary contracts to continue the plan.
Mammoth duo on NLL all-rookie team
Forward Jamie Shewchuk and transition player Nenad Gajic of the Colorado Mammoth have been named to the 2007 National Lacrosse League all-rookie team.
Shewchuk had 26 assists this season to lead NLL rookies and finished fourth in scoring among Mammoth players with 53 points.
Gajic, named the NLL rookie of the month in February, had 27 points this season and 102 loose balls.
Western New Mexico leads golf regional
Western New Mexico shot a second-round 285 and finished seven strokes ahead of CSU-Pueblo on Tuesday to lead the men’s NCAA Division II Northwest Regional at Fox Hollow Golf Course in Lakewood.
Entering today’s final round, CSU-Pueblo’s Andrew Hedrick is in second place. He shot a 4-under-par 67, the best performance by any individual in the tournament through two rounds. Hedrick trails tournament leader Travis Ross of St. Cloud State by two strokes and leads teammate David Duarte by a stroke.
Western State hires alpine ski coach
Evan Weiss has been named the alpine ski coach for Western State College. A three-time NCAA All-American, Weiss is set to graduate from Dartmouth College in June. He finished second in the giant slalom at the NCAA championships this past winter.
Ponderosa product gets honor
Lehigh University softball player and Ponderosa High School graduate Whitney Schenbeck was named to the all-Patriot League first team. Schenbeck, an outfielder, had a .313 average at the plate and a 1.000 fielding percentage.
