Now that Jane Fonda is working again and wants to work more, what kind of movies does she want to make? In a word: funny.
“The scripts that come my way are very dour, and just because I’m old doesn’t mean I have to be dour,” says the actress, who will turn 70 in December. “I don’t want to do dour.”
“I liked ‘On Golden Pond,’ ” Fonda continues, “which is serious and moving but has a lot of humor. I liked ‘Monster-in-Law.’ I love that over-the-top stuff. I want to do another one of those before the end comes.”
But what Fonda really wants to do and what she’s currently developing is a film that shows older people “being erotic.”
“I think it’s a shame that we don’t have any image of older people still being sexy,” Fonda says.
“Every time I say that to older people especially women they go, ‘Oh my God, we’ve been waiting for that.’ “
