The tiny town of Buena Vista will be in full bloom this weekend as the Buena Vista Bike Fest and CKS Paddlefest ’07 roll in to celebrate the openings of their respective seasons. Whereas the 800-rider road cycling event is already sold out, Saturday’s postride party at the Best Western still holds the promise of New Belgium brews from 1-7 p.m. And because the nearby Arkansas River never sells out, everyone is welcome to put a skirt on and drop into the Paddlefest, where the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Center is holding learn-to-kayak instructional clinics (sign up at RMOC.com) alongside Jackson Kayak team members Eric Jackson, Clay Wright, Stephen Wright and others conducting more advanced skills sessions on the river. The River Rally Weekend also serves as a River Clean Up/Green Up (719-539-7289 to volunteer) Saturday, American Whitewater fundraiser party Saturday night and Colorado Kayak Supply swap and sale all weekend long.
