Scarlett Johansson has been shopping for a New York apartment, the New York Post’s Braden Kiel reports. The actress checked out a penthouse apartment in the Chelsea Club at 444 W. 19th St. The one-bedroom, loft- style condo includes two terraces and an elevator that opens directly into the $1.95 million apartment. “She’s looking for an apartment with privacy, where she can take an elevator to the garage without having to go outside,” a source noted. The unit includes a parking space inside the building. Let’s hope the unit has good ventilation – neighbors in her downtown apartment reportedly have complained about Johansson’s chain smoking.
Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen want to celebrate their 21st birthday in style. The twin sisters are renting a $22,000-a- month party house in Malibu, Calif., where they plan to commemorate their big day on June 13, In Touch Weekly reports. The sisters plan “to spend much of the summer in Malibu,” a pal told In Touch. The bungalow has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a flat-screen TV in every room.
After she got the boot from her Upper East Side mansion by then-hubby Ronald Perelman, Ellen Barkin moved into a West Village townhouse. The $7.5 million vintage home on West 12th Street is “beautiful, but I’d rather have an apartment, quite frankly,” Barkin told More magazine’s June issue. “I don’t like being responsible for a house. I don’t want to shovel snow. I want to pick up the phone and say, ‘My bathroom is leaking’ and hang up.”
