Wailua Wheat Ale, $7.99 a six-pack
Face it, chances are slim you’ll be going to Hawaii anytime soon.
But you can visit the tropical paradise through Wailua, a wheat ale brewed with passion fruit by Kona Brewing Co.
Lovers of odd fruits will find Wailua a good summertime refresher. Others will liken it to sucking on a Dreamsicle. Its sweetness aside, Wailua is a light and bright ale with 5.4 percent alcohol (by volume). The colorful label is a graphic of Wailua Falls, the beer’s namesake.
Wailua Wheat Ale is available for a short time in 11 states, mostly in the western U.S. It’s the second in the brewer’s series of limited-release beers.
