Aurora police believe that two fatal shootings on consecutive nights last week may be linked and related to gang activity.
Parish Deshawn Washington, a suspect in one of the killings, is being held in the Adams County Jail for investigation of first-degree murder.
Authorities accuse Washington, 20, of fatally shooting Molicia Rochelle Nunn, 40, shortly before midnight Friday in an apartment-complex hallway in the 1900 block of Del Mar Parkway. He was arrested Tuesday.
The night before Nunn was killed, her daughter, 21, was shot in the foot and a friend, Christian Lavelle Felder, was fatally shot at Montview Park, said Detective Shannon Lucy, Aurora police spokeswoman.
Washington has not been named a suspect in Felder’s death and the wounding of the daughter, Lucy said, but Washington and Felder are known to be gang members.
“We’re still looking for suspects in the first murder,” Lucy said. “We believe there was gang involvement in the shootings.”
Washington is to make a court appearance today.
