LINCOLN, Neb.-

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has reached a deal with its overpaid custodian, who has agreed to make restitution.

The university said Friday that it would not press a criminal case against the custodian, whose pay was accidentally doubled for eight months.

Said UNL spokeswoman Kelly Bartling: “We looked into the situation, and I think that everybody is comfortable with the investigation and the agreement we’ve made with the employee.”

The unnamed employee was paid an extra $16,704 from July 20 last year to April 27.

Court papers filed Tuesday said the custodian got a pay raise in July, but a budget department error doubled his correct wage.
