Carissa Travis graduated in May as the senior class president and valedictorian of Chaparral High School in Parker.
Carissa was named an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction, Outstanding Scholar Activity Student of the Year, a National Merit Commended Scholar, Parker Rotary Student of the Month and a Norlin Scholar by the University of Colorado at Boulder. She was also a Wendy’s High School Heisman nominee.
She has done more than 300 hours of community service, including teaching Sunday school and Tennis for Kids, working at a food bank and teaching Mexican orphans with the Joy Lutheran Church youth group.
Carissa, who lettered three times in academics, graduated with a 4.3 weighted grade-point average. She took Advanced Placement courses in biology, U.S. history, calculus, physics and statistics.
Carissa plans to become a pediatrician. She will attend CU- Boulder in the fall.
