Getting your player ready...

Trent Green swallowed hard, then tried to list every Miami Dolphins starting quarterback since Dan Marino’s retirement seven seasons ago.

It took him a minute, but he eventually got most of the 10 names right.

“You’re not going to find anyone to replace Dan Marino,” Green said.

Fortunately for Green, the Dolphins aren’t asking him to replace the legendary Marino. They’re merely asking him to replace Daunte Culpepper.

Green’s long-awaited trade to Miami finally got done Wednesday, after he passed a physical and was acquired from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick in 2008.

Green, 36, said the Chiefs “wanted to get younger.”

The deal was finished hours after Dolphins general manager Randy Mueller and coach Cam Cameron told Culpepper they would try to trade him, essentially ending his one-year stint in South Florida.

Culpepper wasn’t happy with that development, saying he is “not interested in being traded.”

Ravens: Baltimore offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden already had plenty of money and a Super Bowl ring, and was coming off his 10th consecutive berth in the Pro Bowl. He also had a hyper- extended left big toe that was giving him fits.

“I just kind of wanted to decide if I wanted to play football more. This is 12 years coming up, and that’s a long time – not to mention college and high school,” said Ogden, 33. “You just got to examine, do I want to do it still?”

The answer, much to the delight of the Ravens, was yes.

Ogden is participating in the team’s involuntary mini-camp this week and will be a major factor in Baltimore’s bid to defend the AFC North title and build on its 13-3 record of a year ago.

Falcons: People have told investigators that quarterback Michael Vick was involved in a dogfighting operation at a house he owns in Surry County, Va., the sheriff said, and Vick will be charged if investigators can find evidence backing those claims.

Sheriff Harold D. Brown, who is leading the investigation, said he hopes members of a task force that have been gathering evidence in the case can meet by sometime next week to see how credible the evidence is and how best to proceed.

Patriots: About $16,000 worth of belongings was reported stolen from the home of the late Marquise Hill’s mother while she attended the funeral for her son, a New England defensive lineman who drowned last week, police said.

No suspects have been identified in Saturday’s burglary at the eastern New Orleans home of Sherry Hill.

49ers: San Francisco defensive end Melvin Oliver tore a ligament in his right knee during organized team activities this week.
