Chicago always has been a bit of an anomaly in popular music.

The band has used horns when others would employ guitars, eschewed celebrity for musicianship and generally been content to play to its fans instead of music critics. This has served the band well, placing it among the top-10-selling acts of all time, with more than 100 million albums sold, according to Billboard magazine.

Now celebrating 40 years together, the group will visit the Fillmore Auditorium on Sept. 12 to reach into its back catalog of hits, including “(I’ve Been) Searchin’ So Long” and “Saturday in the Park.”

Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($47.50, Ticketmaster)

Toby Keith named his current tour after his forthcoming album, “Big Daddy Dog,” a typically bombastic title for the larger-than-life pop-country star. Still, his ability to hit a down-home vein is evident in the 30 million albums he’s sold, most in the past few years of his career. Tickets for Keith’s Aug. 2 Red Rocks Amphitheatre show with Miranda Lambert and Flynnville Train are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($49.25-$69.25, Ticketmaster)

Bob Dylan added a show to his Red Rocks schedule, likely after his management saw how well tickets for the July 19 date sold. The folk-rock legend will play with My Morning Jacket on July 20, the “second and final show” of his Front Range stint. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($55, Ticketmaster)

Marilyn Manson and Slayer both deliver over-the-top shows, the former with faux-evil, button-pushing spectacle and the latter with skull-crushingly precise musicianship. Expect lots of devil signs (the unironic kind) at the concert. Tickets for their 25-city tour, which takes them to Coors Amphitheatre on Aug. 18, are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($18-$60, Ticketmaster)

Magnolia Electric Company rocked the Larimer Lounge last time it came through town, but the group’s Will Oldham-aping indie twang will fill the larger environs of the Bluebird Theater this time around. Tickets for the band’s Aug. 23 show are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($10, Ticketmaster)

Rise Against, a Chicago-bred melodic hardcore band, will lead a Channel 93.3’s Bill of Rights tour, which features like-minded pop-punk acts Sum 41 (featuring former members of blink-182), Silverstein and Comeback Kid. Tickets for the Sept. 13 show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($27.50-$30, Ticketmaster)
