British singer Rod Stewart won’t perform at Red Rocks Amphitheatre Monday or Tuesday, following a last-minute cancellation.

The venue received word on Monday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. that Stewart’s shows, slated for Monday and Tuesday, “are postponed,” said Brian Kitts, a spokesman for Denver Arts & Venues, the city agency that oversees the Morrison venue.

The decision to postpone the shows was made after Stewart visited the Colorado Voice Clinic on Monday and was prescribed vocal rest, according to a statement from show promoter Live Nation.

"Evaluation revealed significant inflammation and strain of the vocal folds, making it impossible for him to safely perform without the risk of further injury and potential long-term damage to his voice," the statement said. "Rod is deeply disappointed and sincerely apologizes to his fans for this inconvenience. He looks forward to returning to the stage as soon as he is medically cleared."

The shows have been rescheduled for Sept. 2 and Sept. 3, 2027, and tickets already purchased will be valid for the new date, Live Nation said.

Red Rocks had been expected to celebrate the 85th anniversary of its June 15, 1941, grand opening and dedication on Monday, .

"We're always disappointed to lose a show. But, Red Rocks is forever, and the 85th anniversary season is more than 200 shows long with the party continuing through November," Kitts told The Denver Post.

Last Friday, the 81-year-old British pop icon and “Forever Young” singer had been expected to perform in Chula Vista, Calif., near San Diego, but the show was canceled about 40 minutes before it had been slated to start, .

Stewart's publicist cited "an acute upper respiratory infection that has resulted in laryngitis.”

Stewart that he was flying to Boston to see Scotland play in the World Cup, drawing criticism from fans.
