DENVER—The number of passengers who traveled through Denver International Airport in April topped 4 million for the first time, prompting an aviation official to predict a busy summer travel season.
April’s passenger total of 4.04 million was up 5.4 percent from April 2006’s total of 3.8 million, city Aviation Manager Turner West said Thursday.
During the first four months of this year, 15.6 million passengers were recorded at the airport, an increase of 4.8 percent over the 14.9 million passengers logged in the first four months in 2006.
The passengers have enjoyed lower fares as competition remains strong among United Airlines, Frontier Airlines and Southwest Airlines.
