GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Authorities were investigating the death Thursday of a man at a go-cart track as an “unknown death,” but said it appeared to be accidental.

The man in his 30s died Thursday evening at Bananas Fun Park, police said. He had apparently been on a family outing at the time.

Grand Junction Police Department spokeswoman Linda Bowman told The Daily Sentinel that investigators were trying to learn the circumstances of the go-cart crash, and if a medical condition of some type may have caused the man’s death.

His name was not released pending notification of relatives and the completion of an autopsy.

Other areas of Bananas Fun Park remained open during the incident, but the go-cart track was closed.

Bowman said she expected the track would remain “closed for quite a while.”

A message left after hours for Bananas Fun Park owner Chris Burns was not immediately returned.
