GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A former Clifton man was ordered to appear in Denver federal court Monday in connection with the July 2004 robbery of a Delta bank.
Matthew Charles Tate, 43, was arrested by FBI agents at a homeless shelter in Grand Junction on Wednesday.
An arrest affidavit said Tate confessed to the crime, and told authorities that he spent all of the money he stole on alcohol, drugs and women.
Authorities said they were able to connect Tate to the case through a DNA match to a cloth that was used to cover the robber’s face during the crime.
Tate was placed on a federal custody hold at the Mesa County Jail.
