More celebrities than you can shake a Screen Actors Guild roster at are coming to town this week for the second Gary Morris/TAPS Celebrity Invitational.
Starting Friday and continuing through Monday, this fundraiser for families who have lost a loved one in military service will include music and comedy shows, a dinner and a golf tournament. Among those scheduled to take part are songwriters Gary Morris (“Wind Beneath My Wings”), Rob Crosby, Brett Jones, Billy Montana and Greg Barnhill, who’ll sing numbers they’ve written for such stars as Kenny Chesney, Reba McEntire, Toby
Keith and Tim McGraw; comedians Darryl Collier and Jeff Harms; and Judy Kaye, who received a Tony for her role in Broadway’s “Phantom of the Opera.”
Organizers Bo and Lynne Cottrell are working with a committee made up of such prominent locals as Bill and Rita Bass Coors; Mort and Edie Marks, Dr. Morris Clark; Tom Allee, and Carl and Lisa Williams. Call 303-696-0450.

The Container Store is opening its second Denver store on Aug. 11, and CEO Kip Tindell tells us 10 percent of the weekend’s sales will be given to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.

Pigs on Pedestals, an exhibit of ceramic piggy banks that have been gussied up by a host of Denver-area artists, are on display through July 5 at Park Meadows mall. Money dropped into the oinkers goes to Families First … Roselyn Saunders made a hole-in-one while playing golf with pal Dianne Eddolls at Plum Creek the other day … Patty Farmer is the director of sales and teaching support specialist at the University of Denver School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management’s handsome new conference and events center … Curious Theatre is planning to celebrate its 10th season with a gala dinner at Palette’s in the Denver Art Museum.
