Pat Grady shot a 5-under-par 67 to lead the the U.S. Amateur Public Links qualifier at Mira Vista Golf Course on Monday. Grady, a senior-to-be at the University of Colorado, leads Chase Cooper of Guymon, Okla., by one stroke and fellow Buffaloes teammates Riley Andrews and Mi- chael Baird by two shots heading into today’s final round. Three players will qualify for the 2007 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship on July 9-14 at Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton, Ill.
Becca Huffer of Littleton High School shot a first-round 73 and is six shots off the lead at the women’s Publinx qualifier in Lexington, Ky.
Waner sparks USA win over France
Former ThunderRidge High School standout Abby Waner recorded team highs with eight rebounds, four assists and four steals as the USA Basketball U21 World Championship women’s team defeated France 82-59 in an exhibition game in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
The University of Denver named Erik Cook, a three-time Division I All-American and the 1995 Colorado high school champ, its new diving coach.
