Larimer County – A man was found floating face down in the Poudre River on Tuesday afternoon north of Martinez Park near Fort Collins.

Poudre Fire Authority rescuers responding to a call found the man in about 3 feet of water and pulled him ashore. Life-support measures were taken, but the man was later pronounced dead at Poudre Valley Hospital, 9News reported late Tuesday.

Witnesses told Larimer County sheriff’s deputies that the man had been floating in the river under no apparent distress. A short time later they noticed him face down in the river, a spokesman for the fire authority said in a news release.

The identity of the man was unavailable.

Man who fondled CU women sentenced

Christopher Ferguson of Boulder pleaded guilty in April to felony trespassing and misdemeanor unwanted sexual contact.

CU police arrested Ferguson, who was not a student at the school, in February.

At the time, police said Ferguson told female students he was drunk and needed “a place to sleep.” The students told police he did not smell of alcohol.

Shows will go on at State Bridge Lodge

Despite a fire burning the historic State Bridge Lodge to the ground, the party will go on.

On June 2, a fire that authorities said may have been set to cover up a burglary attempt destroyed the 117-year-old lodge.

But this weekend, the site about 30 miles west of Vail will “rise from the ashes.”

“You can mess with us but you can’t break our will,” said Scott Stoughton, partner and general manager of the lodge.

The popular music venue will host The Radiators at 8 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday, and Tea Leaf Green at 5 p.m. Sunday.

An insurance settlement has yet to be received, but Stoughton said he wanted to show the community that the lodge is still around.

All shows will take place at a “new” open lot.

There is a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
