Two men were killed and a third man was shot in the stomach in separate shootings in Denver within a 12-hour span Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, police said.
Authorities have not found any link among the three shootings, although two men were shot while riding on bicycles, said Denver police spokesman John White.
Police believe there is a gang connection in one of the cases.
The first shooting happened just before 7 p.m. at 3117 W. 26th Ave. when someone shot a man in his early 20s in the stomach while he was riding a bicycle. His name has not been released.
He was taken to a hospital in critical condition, White said.
Police did not have any description of a suspect or a vehicle involved.
About an hour later, another man in his early 20s, who was sitting on or riding a bike at East 30th Avenue and Franklin Street, was shot after he spoke or argued with someone in a red sedan.
Police believe this shooting is gang- related, but they have no suspects. The victim was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, White said.
And authorities found a body just before 6 a.m. behind tennis courts at the Martin Luther King Recreation Center, 3880 Newport St., White said.
A passer-by flagged down police Wednesday morning and told an officer about the man lying on the ground, White said.
“We don’t have any suspects,” he said.
Homicide detectives also do not know what motivated the shooting, White said.
