ESPN will be all over David Beckham like a horde of paparazzi when the English soccer star/pop culture phenomenon makes his long-awaited debut for the Los Angeles Galaxy on July 21.

The game won’t count in the standings – it’s a “friendly” vs. Chelsea of the English Premier League – but ESPN will cover it with 19 cameras.

A “Beckham Cam” will follow his every move, and a “Celebrity Cam” will prowl the stands. New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush will appear because of a “Futbol vs. Football” advertising campaign cooked up by the shoe company the two athletes have in common.

ESPN will precede the game with a one-hour documentary on Beckham’s life and his move to Hollywood.

Beckham will be in the Denver area for the MLS All-Star Game two days before his debut with the Galaxy as a guest of commissioner Don Garber, but he will not play. The Rapids will host the Galaxy on Aug. 26.
