Greenwood Village – Four workers were seriously injured in an industrial accident this morning when a building under construction partially collapsed at about 9:20 as concrete was being poured on the roof.
Rick Palese of Everest Development said 13 workers were on site at the Landmark building, 7677 E. Berry Ave., at the time. They were pouring concrete into steel forms on the roof of the 14-story building when a form shifted. The collapse impacted workers on the 12th floor; there is no 13th floor.
The accident happened in the northwest corner of the two-tower complex.
All 13 workers were accounted for and taken to area hospitals. Some had been released by 11 a.m.
Dan Mulroney, chief of operations for South Metro Fire, said four workers had serious injuries.
Palese said inspectors have deemed the building stable, but work has been halted.
The Parker, Littleton and South Metro fire departments sent numerous ambulances and fire trucks to the construction accident, according to Paul Smith, director of the dispatch center for South Metro Fire Rescue.
The contractor involved is Beck Residential. The building is expected to open next year.
The Landmark, between East Belleview Avenue and East Orchard Road, will have 135 high-end condominiums running from $250,000 to $1 million each.
The $140 million building includes 180,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space.
Building planners have said it will include a European day spa, a pool with cabanas and gardens, a private dining and wine-tasting room, and a rooftop terrace.
