GENESEE, Colo.—A semitrailer overturned on a steep section of Interstate 70 just west of Denver and burst into flames Wednesday, killing the driver and forcing the closure of the state’s main east/west highway, officials said.

The accident at about 6:30 p.m. happened about an hour after a rollover accident killed two and forced the closure of the southbound lanes of Interstate 25 near Longmont.

Officials said the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 were expected to be closed for several hours.
