Tom Glissmeyer, a golfer at the University of Southern California, and Zen Brown, Colorado State, will meet in the final round at the 107th Colorado Golf Association Match Play Championship after each won a semifinal Thursday at Bear Creek Golf Club.

Glissmeyer, of the Country Club of Colorado, topped Steve Irwin, Lakewood Country Club, 2 and 1 in the semifinal round. And Brown, Indian Tree Golf Club, defeated Klinton Krieger, Ptarmigan Golf and Country Club, 6 and 4 in the semifinals.

Glissmeyer, a former U.S. Open qualifier and a CGA Junior Match Play champion, eliminated 2006 Class 5A state high school champion Steve Ziegler, The Ranch Country Club, 2-up in Thursday’s quarterfinals. Brown, a former CGA Public Links champion, defeated former CGA Stroke Play champion Drew Stoltz, Fort Collins Country Club, 1-up in the quarterfinals.

The 36-hole final match begins at 7 a.m. today.

UNC’s Higgins wins Maine Amateur

Eric Higgins, a senior captain on the Northern Colorado golf team, won the 88th Maine Amateur Golf Championship after shooting a final-round, 1-under-par 69 at the Waterville Country Club in Oakland, Maine. Higgins, originally from Kennebunk, Maine, shot 70 in the first two rounds and bogeyed just two holes in the final round.
