Don Cheadle’s talent and his taste make him a very good thing in very good movies. Check these films if you want to catch up with his best work:
“Reign Over Me” (2007): He’s a successful dentist with a good marriage, and his life gets a jolt of boyish adrenaline then a hefty dollop of pained reality when he meets up with his college roommate who lost his family (Adam Sandler)
“Crash” (2005): As an L.A. homicide detective, he is the axis in the 2006 Oscar winner about 24 hours in the lives of lost, found and angry Angelenos.
“Hotel Rwanda” (2004): Those eyes! How he makes us believe in the horrors they’ve seen. He was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of a Rwandan hotel manager who saved the lives of Tutsis and Hutus during the genocide.
“Traffic” (2000): He plays an undercover cop in an awesome ensemble, yet he makes every gesture count. Look at his face when he shares his story of lost virginity with his partner (Luis Guzmán).
“Devil in a Blue Dress” (1995): Cheadle gnawed the scenery beautifully as the trigger-happy Mouse in this noir nugget, starring Denzel Washington as detective Easy Rawlins.
