Time for penance
Imagine my surprise July 8 when the entire Phillies team, including the starting pitcher and reigning NL MVP, scrambled to help the Rockies’ grounds crew during a horrendous storm, while all but one member – LaTroy Hawkins – of the home team sat in the dugout and watched.
Last summer much was made of the Rockies being a Christian organization. Evangelism in the clubhouse was all the rage. Girlie mags were replaced by Bibles.
Comparing Sunday’s reaction of the Phillies to these “Christians,” it is obvious the phrase “do unto others” is applied only to the Rockies’ small circle of friends and family.
Kudos to the Phillies for reacting like caring human beings. Shame on the Rockies for holding their Bibles and, apparently, not reading them.

Wind beneath them
After the weather events of July 8, I have a new appreciation for the Phillies. I see the prima donna Rockies were nowhere to be seen. No wonder they can’t win – 25 guys, 25 different agendas.

Get a clue, Clint
A response by Clint Hurdle to a question about the Home Run Derby went something like this: “What is it good for anyway?”
IT IS GOOD FOR THE FANS!!! I realize a player may get an extra day with family and doesn’t receive compensation for participation. It is the fans who ultimately pay his salary.
