MORRISON, Colo.—Allen Johnson, who set a track record for fastest elapsed time Friday, held on to the top spot Saturday, qualifying first in Pro Stock at the Mile High Mopar Nationals.
Jason Line, who set a track mark for top speed Friday, finished in the No. 10 position for Sunday’s race.
V Gaines, from nearby Lakewood, Colo., failed to qualify—the first time that’s happened to him this year.
Matt Smith qualified first in Pro Stock Motorcycle for Sunday’s race, his fourth pole of the season. He will drive against Littleton, Colo., native Mike Berry, who qualified 16th.
Rain delayed the second round of Funny Car qualifying Saturday, but J.R. Todd, whose first career win came at this event last year, jumped from the No. 11 position to the No. 3 slot in the first drag after the delay. He’ll start fourth Sunday.
Morrison native Melanie Troxel took the top 1 position in the Top Fuel competition.
