Woman fatally shot; police seek husband
A woman singing with a band at a local restaurant was shot and killed early Saturday, and police were looking for her estranged husband – a member of the state Army Guard and who police believe has sniper skills.
Police Capt. Jeff Schulz said Robin Munis, 40, of Cheyenne was shot in the head by one gunshot that came from outside the restaurant where she was performing.
Schulz identified David Munis, 36, of Cheyenne as a suspect. Police said they were looking for his 1999 black Dodge pickup with Wyoming plates NG-975.
The couple had recently separated, and the victim had complained about receiving harassing telephone calls from her husband, Schulz said.

Lightning sparks about a dozen fires
Firefighters tried to contain about a dozen lightning- caused fires in Washington on Saturday, hours before another thunderstorm was expected to give them more work.
Close to 2,700 lightning strikes were reported in Washington and Oregon on Friday and early Saturday, sparking 212 fires, but firefighters quickly contained most of them. Three of the largest remaining fires had burned nearly 43 square miles of grass, sagebrush and farm fields in south-central Washington, and only one had been contained by Saturday afternoon.
In eastern Oregon near Burns, a complex of fires started by lightning July 6 was about 36 percent contained but continued to threaten about 140 structures.
The largest fire in Utah history, about 120 miles south of Salt Lake City, was 75 percent contained Saturday after burning more than 568 square miles. Officials said it could be fully contained by Tuesday.

Zookeeper seriously injured by tiger
A tiger at the San Antonio Zoo attacked a keeper Saturday, critically injuring the man, the zoo said.
The zookeeper was attacked in a non-public area by the tiger, said zoo spokeswoman Dawn Campos. The man was expected to recover, she said.
The zookeeper, who specializes in large cats, was flown to a hospital and was in critical condition, a hospital spokeswoman said. The keeper is in his 20s, Campos said.
The male Sumatran tiger is 4 or 5 years old, Campos said.
Campos said she did not know the extent of the zookeeper’s injuries but said: “He was very, very fortunate. He’s going to be fine.”
The zoo was closed after the attack and was expected to reopen today, Campos said.

Woman dies after 45-foot fall from ride
A woman attending a Christian festival died Saturday after plunging about 45 feet from a bungeelike amusement ride.
Workers at the Lifest 2007 event shut down the Air Glory ride after the accident, which occurred about 4:45 p.m. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m., and the music festival resumed about 7:30 p.m.
The woman, whose name and age were not released by police, was pronounced dead at a local hospital several hours after the accident.
Oshkosh police Sgt. Todd Wrage said few details were available Saturday night.
“What we do know, from the reports we’ve gotten, is that she apparently fell 40 to 50 feet,” Wrage said.
The Air Glory ride is described as a ride whose mechanism is similar to bungee jumping.
