It’s obvious that author and Highlands Ranch native Tamra Monahan spent time at each bed and breakfast she writes about in “Colorado’s Best Bed and Breakfasts” ($16.95, Fulcrum Publishing). Not only does each of the 100 sites get a very personal description – including appealing details about the food, historical tidbits and informative rundowns on the rooms – but the directions also include a little extra help, such as “Look for a red Victorian house with white trim and a white picket fence on your right” after the standard highway and sign info. The state is divided by Front Range, Northwest, Central, West Central and Southwest, and then further by city and town.
