GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Authorities investigating the disappearance of a mother of three have searched a Grand Junction home for the second time in two weeks, but they declined to say whether the residents were part of the investigation.
“We can’t say if people in the house are people of interest,” Mesa County sheriff’s spokeswoman Heather Gierhart said after Wednesday’s search.
She did not identify the occupants.
Paige Birgfeld, 34, was last seen June 28 and was reported missing two days later. Her car was found burned and abandoned on July 1 a few miles from her Grand Junction home.
Friends and family have described her as a devoted mother who sold Pampered Chef products and held other jobs to support her children. Authorities said their investigation found Birgfeld also had an escort service, a discovery that came as a surprise to many who knew her.
A weekend search along a Grand Junction-area highway turned up several of Birgfeld’s personal belongings, but investigators would not say what they were.
Investigators’ list of possible suspects includes anyone who contacted or tried to contact Birgfeld, Gierhart told The Daily Sentinel. She said no one has been ruled out.
Gierhart said Birgfeld’s former husbands, Howard Beigler and Rob Dixon, are both low on the list.
“So far their alibis have checked out, but it’s too early to take anyone off the list just yet,” she said.
