U.S. 6 and the left lane of Interstate 70 were reopened this evening after being closed for nearly an hour after torrential rains in the Eagle-Wolcott area caused mud, trees and other debris to flow onto the two highways, according to Colorado Department of Transportation spokesman Paul Peterson.
The westbound lanes of I-70 and all of U.S. 6 nearby were closed this evening. The lanes reopened just after 6:15 p.m. The right lane of I-70 is still closed because of debris.
Peterson said that the rains did not trigger a full-scale mudslide. The debris covered the highways around mile marker 154 on U.S. 6 and mile marker 152 on I-70.
