Over the past two weeks, investigators have executed search warrants on locations throughout Mesa County as they try to find out what happened to a Grand Junction mother of three, a spokeswoman said today.
The list of people that investigators are focusing on is also getting shorter, said Mesa County sheriff’s spokeswoman Heather Gierhart.
Gierhart would not say whether the other searches were connected to a couple whose house was searched by police on Wednesday.
She also would not say who is on the list of persons of interest.
Paige Birgfeld, 34, has been missing since June 28 and is believed to be the victim of foul play.
Days after her disappearance, her car was found on fire in an empty parking lot about three miles from her home.
Searchers also found a long trail of her personal belongings, including a movie rental card and a check book, along U.S. 50 south of Grand Junction.
Gierhart has said the sheriff’s office is focusing its investigation on an escort business Birgfeld was involved in.
Police have not named any suspects in the case.
