DES MOINES, Iowa—The Powerball jackpot was expected to increase to an estimated $72 million for Saturday after no one matched all six of the numbers in the midweek drawing, the Multi-State Lottery Association said.
Wednesday’s winning numbers were 3, 9, 14, 40 and 42. The Powerball was 3 and the multiplier was 4.
Players matching all five numbers and the Powerball would have won or shared the $59.9 Million jackpot.
The top prize in Colorado was $800,000 for a Power Play ticket that matched the first five numbers, but not the Powerball, Colorado Lottery officials said.
The game was created in 1992 and launched in Colorado in 2001.
It is now played in 29 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
