Police are searching for the driver of a car that may have caused a rollover crash, injuring four children and a woman this morning near Denver International Airport.

One of the children received life-threatening injuries, said Aurora police spokesman Lt. Bruce Smith.

About 5 a.m., the woman and children were headed west on 56th Avenue in a blue Dodge Caravan when another car, possibly a dark blue Cadillac, pulled out in front of them from a parking lot near Genoa Street, Smith said.

The woman swerved to avoid the car. Her van skidded and flipped twice, landing on its roof, Smith said.

All five were wearing seat belts and because of that, “the injuries were minimized,” Smith said.

One boy, age 8, likely fractured his neck, he said.

The others suffered minor to serious injuries. All were taken to local hospitals.

The driver of the other vehicle did not stop and may face charges for leaving the scene of the crash, Smith said.

Police ask anyone who may have seen the crash to contact Officer Gary Moore at 303-627-3216.
