A seventh Coloradan has tested positive for West Nile virus, according to the Tri-County Health Department, which covers Adams, Arapahoe and Douglas Counties.
A 32-year-old Adams County woman tested positive for the mosquito-borne West Nile, which can trigger flulike symptoms and, rarely, dangerous brain inflammation.
The woman spends about 28 hours per week outdoors in a rural area, according to health officials, so it’s been difficult to track down where she was exposed. Mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus have been found throughout Adams County.
No one in Colorado has died of West Nile this year, according to the state health department.
