Former radio talk host Scott Cortelyou was sentenced to 18 months of intensive probation and ordered to register as a sex offender this morning after pleading guilty to Internet sex crimes.

Cortelyou, who has not been allowed to use his computer since his arrest in January for engaging in sexually-explicit Internet chats with an undercover police officer posing as a 12-year-old girl, will also have to work out an agreement with a probation officer before he can go online again.

“This is not the microphone I prefer to be behind,” Cortelyou said today in Jefferson District Court. He then apologized and accepted responsibility for his actions.

Cortelyou, 53, was the host of of “Business for Breakfast” on KRCN 1060-AM, which was also broadcast on other stations in Colorado. For a time he also reported business news on KOA 850-AM.

He pleaded guilty in April to Internet luring and attempted Internet sexual exploitation of a child, both felonies.

The investigation began last August with Fort Collins investigators, who then worked with Jefferson County authorities before arresting Cortelyou in January.
