A federal grand jury indicted Tamera Jo Freeman late Tuesday, charging her with interfering with a flight attendant and two counts of assault, according to documents unsealed today in U.S. District Court.
Freeman, 38, is accused of slapping and punching her two children and intimidating a Frontier Airlines flight attendant while in flight from San Francisco to Denver last week.
According to a federal affidavit, Freeman told an FBI agent that she struck her children, a 2-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl, because they had spilled her alcohol and were fighting over a window shade.
Freeman denied throwing her drink toward a flight attendant who tried to stop the incident and calm Freeman down, the affidavit says.
After Freeman’s arrest, the children were turned over to relatives.
Freeman is due in U.S. District Court on Thursday for a preliminary hearing.
