A pungent aroma tipped Denver cops that pulling over a traffic scoff law might yield more than a fine.

“Officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle,” according to a police report by Denver police officers Phillip Castine and Toni Mahr.

Ralph Anthony Sumosa II, 20, was carrying baggies of “suspected” marijuana, scales, cash, drug paraphernalia and a semi-automatic .22-caliber hand gun in his blue 2005 Chevrolet Impala, the report says.

The officers arrested Sumosa near the intersection of Colfax Avenue and North Xenia Street Wednesday night for investigation of marijuana distribution, the report says.

Sumosa was released on a $5,000 bond Thursday, according to Denver County Court records.
