A Parker house is extensively damaged after a fire Saturday night rekindled early this morning. No one was at the home, which was being remodeled.

Parker and Rattlesnake fire districts responded to the blaze at 8234 E. Summit Road just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Passersby grabbed garden hoses and helped by spraying the roof and nearby trees, according to a statement.

Improperly disposing of construction materials caused the fire, said Parker fire spokeswoman Cheryl Poage.

Crews were at the home late Saturday checking for hot spots, she said. None were found, but just before 3:30 a.m. the fire rekindled.

It’s likely the spot was missed because it was covered by insulation, she said.

“(The second fire) was significant because it wasn’t detected until a neighbor woke up,” Poage said.
