High flows again have forced postponement of the inaugural South Platte River Pro-Am Carp Slam event scheduled Saturday.
The event, sponsored by Denver Trout Unlimited as a fundraiser for a cleanup effort on the Platte, now is planned for Sept. 8, with headquarters at the Andrews on Lincoln restaurant, 1111 Lincoln St.
Recent heavy rains both in Denver and in the mountains caused a major spike in the water level. The ability to sight fish is a key element in successful angling for carp.
Frisco fish meeting
An angler roundtable meeting in Frisco on Monday will feature a discussion on how northwest Colorado waters are managed, along with potential regulation changes in the definition of bait and artificial flies and lures. The Colorado Division of Wildlife will host the 6:30 p.m. meeting at County Commons, Mount Royal Room, 0037 Peak One Drive.
