Jefferson County sheriff’s investigators hope a sculpture of a murder victim’s face will be the clue that helps them solve a 30-year-old homicide.

The body of a Caucasian man with partial Hispanic or Asian ancestry was discovered Feb. 13, 1977 by hikers about 100 feet below a U.S. 285 embankment, a mile south of Colorado Highway 8, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Investigator Cheryl Moore said.

The man died of head injuries, Moore said. He had some clothes on but no identifying documents were found with his body, she said.

“When you don’t know who they are, you are missing a very important part,” Moore said. “You can’t do a lot of the basic investigation. Our priority is getting this guy identified.”

Anyone who recognizes the sculpture of the homicide victim can call Investigator Moore at (303) 271-5625, or reach her at cmoore@jeffco.us.
