Fort Collins — White jersey No. 34 looked like Kyle Bell, was cut like Kyle Bell and burst past the line of scrimmage like Kyle Bell.

Sure enough, it was Kyle Bell.

As promised, the Colorado State running back showed up for the first day of practice Thursday just as good as the 2006 version who ran for nearly 1,300 yards.

“Felt good,” said Bell, who missed last season after undergoing knee surgery.

Of course, there was no real contact on the first day of camp, as the Rams worked out in shorts and helmets. Hitting starts Monday.

Of Bell, CSU coach Sonny Lubick said: “He took every rep and he’s running full speed.”

The Rams’ first depth chart won’t be available for at least a few days. In what will be one of the most contested battles this month, redshirt freshman Ricky Brewer was alternating on the first unit at strong side linebacker with Sedric Patterson.
