Getting your player ready...

After a quick re-evaluation of guard Montrae Holland, the Broncos decided they like what they see in the lineman and extended his contract on Friday.

The Broncos initially signed Holland in March to a one-year deal after he left New Orleans as a free agent. The extension keeps Holland in Denver for the 2008 and ’09 seasons.

Holland’s agent, Jonathan Feinsod, confirmed the extension but declined to disclose terms of the deal.

Holland will compete with second-year player Chris Kuper for the starting right guard job. Holland has been working behind Kuper throughout training camp.

The extension should give Holland and the team some security and continuity should he win the starting job.
