A 33-year-old Strasburg woman died Saturday afternoon when her pickup truck veered off of Interstate 70 near the Front Range Airport.

Angela P. Larson was pronounced dead at the scene around 5 p.m. Saturday.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, Larson was driving a 2004 F-150 pickup westbound on I-70 near the Manilla Road exit when she drifted off the left side of the road into the median. She crashed through, or over, the guard rail, then traveled across the eastbound lanes and down a steep embankment on the far opposite of the divided highway.

Her truck continued across the Manilla Road exit ramp, up a steep embankment and through a barbed wire fence. It finally came to a stop in a field, upright on its four wheels.

State troopers said they don’t believe drugs, alcohol or speed were factors. However, they said she may have been distracted by her cell phone or may have suffered some medical emergency. The investigation continues.
