Getting your player ready...

Fort Collins – Running back Kyle Bell delivered a few hits in pass blocking drills Saturday, so he thought it was only fair to take his first hits Monday when Colorado State had its first practice in full uniform.

“You expect guys on you and you realize you’re OK,” Bell said Monday of being at the bottom of a pile. “It’s no different feeling. I’ve been waiting to hit.”

Bell suffered a torn ACL in practice during the week of last season’s opener.

CSU quarterback Caleb Hanie joked that Bell was taking it easy on the defensive backs so as not to get them mad.

As for defensive players on the sideline urging their teammates not to blast Bell, CSU coach Sonny Lubick said: “I hope they feel that way about everyone. You’re not going to dive and kill one guy and let another guy go. I think they understand that.”

CSU running backs coach Mick Delaney said Bell is getting the work he needs to get the rust off.

“Our running backs have been knocked around a little, but he has not missed a repetition,” Delaney said.
