Getting your player ready...

I would give you the entire tale of the tape, but here’s all you need to know: Sam Adams, 350 pounds, vs. Andre Hall, 212 pounds.

Care to guess what happened Wednesday when Hall ran into Adams during a goal-line drill? Bugs have fared better against windshields.

Hall eventually found the end zone, but only after bouncing off Adams as if he had run into a Volkswagen.

Hey, don’t blame Adams. He was just doing his job, i.e. clogging the middle of the field.

“They can’t run inside, it’s disrespectful,” Adams said. “They wouldn’t let me hit him, so I just gave him a little love tap.”

A little love tap. Kind of like Barry Bonds gave that baseball a little love tap Tuesday night.

At 34, Adams is the savvy veteran the Broncos’ rookie linemen are hoping to become. Before you get too carried away with the potential of Jarvis Moss, Tim Crowder and Marcus Thomas, you might want to listen to Adams’ McScouting report on the three.

“They’re still trying to find their way in the NFL,” Adams said. “The game speed is a different thing. You have to get used to that before the learning takes place. They throw so much at you so fast. Their heads are swimming so much in camp, it’s difficult for them to know their own names.

“They’ve got to get a little tougher. They’ve got to learn how to play hurt. But we have a lot of young talent here that may be able to help us.”
