A partial list of problems reported by fire chiefs across the state:

— Fairview School in Boulder suffered a roof collapse, winter 1978/79.

— Aspen Elementary School suffered $900,000 in damage due to roof and drainage problems and a two-year closure because of a dysfunctional fire alarm system and inadequately seamed ceiling and exterior wall joints.

— Cherokee Trail Elementary School, Parker: Numerous code violations in building design.

— Cheyenne Mountain High School, Colorado Springs: Structural collapse of gymnasium roof.

— Summit High School: Two years after building was occupied in 1999 there was no certificate of occupancy.

— Silverthorne Elementary: No field inspections conducted during construction in 2004.

— Adams Elementary School, Colorado Springs: Fire in a classroom closet, while school was in session, was not contained until significant damage was done to the library. Doors separating classrooms from the library were not present.
