From dog training to backcountry elk hunting, the Fall Hunting Classic series of instruction classes offered Friday through Sunday at Bass Pro Shops serves as a sort of directional arrow toward hunting success. The sessions at the 7970 E. 49th Ave. location begin Friday afternoon and continue through Sunday, with a Tuesday prelude from Wayne Carlton, who’ll deliver 3 p.m. workshop on calling elk to the gun and a 7 p.m. follow-up on early season tactics for archery elk. The schedule:

Friday

1 p.m., C.J. Kausel, using the electric dog collar; 2 p.m., Dieter Kaboth, public land elk hunting; 3 p.m., Roger Medley, backpack hunting for deer and elk; 4 p.m., Kausel, dog obedience command training.

Saturday

10 a.m., Mark Campagnola, beginning elk hunting; 11 a.m., Kaboth, advanced elk calling; noon, Bob Foulkrod, packing and preparing for the hunt; 1 p.m., Kaboth, public land elk hunting; 2 p.m., Brenda Valentine, secrets of a successful hunter; 3 p.m., Campagnola, elk hunting; 4 p.m., Anginette Jorrey, choosing the right camo.

Sunday

11 a.m., Foulkrod, packing and preparing for the hunt; 1 p.m., Kaboth, public land elk hunting; 2 p.m., Campagnola, beginning elk hunting; 3 p.m., Lance Schul, preparing the pack for hunting; 4 p.m., Medley, backpack, hunting.
